Chemical peels are a method of regenerating and resurfacing the skin. They exfoliate the outer layers of dead skin, revealing new skin with improved tone, texture, and colour. 

There are several types of chemical peels, each designed for different skin concerns. The strength of the chemical peel will determine its depth. 

A light (“lunchtime”) chemical peel provides subtle improvement over time and is often done in a series.  No downtime is required for this type of peel.

Light Peels: Skin Deep Glycolic and Lactic / Aspect Dr Salicylic Peels

Ideal treatment for:

• Dull or dehydrated complexion
• Congestion
• Acne
• Melasma

A medium chemical peel gives your skin a smooth, fresh look. Minimal/zero down time with these peels, skin will be in repair mode for up 10 days as it heals and continues to improve.  Skin will need to be prepped with appropriate skin care prior to treatment.

Medium Peels: Cosmedix Timeless / Purity / Deep Sea

Ideal treatment for:

• Uneven or moderate skin discolouring
• Age Spots
• Acne Scarring
• Fine to moderate wrinkles

A deep chemical peel produces the most dramatic results. Recovery time is longer with a deep peel.  A deep chemical peel is a medical procedure and does have significant down time.

Derma-blading, epi-blading or dermaplaning is the process of gently scraping away dead skin cells and ‘peach fuzz’ hairs to give your skin a smoother, brighter complexion.

This process uses a small surgical blade to gently slough off dead skin cells in addition to removing wispy facial hair.  

This treatment is ideal for

• Uneven skin tone
• Melasma
• Sun damage
• Dull or dehydrated skin

Immediately post treatment skin will appear fresh and even, but it may take few days to appreciate the full results of the treatment.  You will notice a more even tone and texture, and that skin care products are more easily absorbed.

You will need to be extra careful about sun exposure post treatment and wear SPF.

We offer a couple of effective ways to remove unwanted body hair.  Which is the most suitable for you – laser or waxing?

WAXING:

Anyone can remove their unwanted hair by waxing and have great results for several weeks.   The result is smooth skin without visible hair on the surface. The follicle, however, remains intact in the dermis layer of the skin and hair continues to grow.

Waxing typically leaves the skin smooth for several weeks, at which point you’ll need to wax the same area again to remove any new hair growth. 

LASER: 

Almost anyone can get laser hair removal, but it is most effective on people with dark hair.  Laser attacks the root of the hair and destroys the follicle so that hair cannot grow back.

Several treatments are required, but results can last for months or even years.   For long-term results Laser hair removal is the best option, provided you are a suitable candidate.

Laser facials are the ideal treatment to maintain healthy skin tone and texture.    They are fast and effective treatment with no downtime and can be performed as often as your skin concerns and budget require, ie weekly, fortnightly, or monthly.

Laser Facials work by heating the epidermis (top layers of your skin) and dermis (2nd layers of skin) resulting in increased collagen and elastin production.  Lasers are attracted to brown and/or red imperfections in the skin and when they connect with their targets, they destroy them.

Radio Frequency Skin Needling also known as RF Microneedling is an advanced, minimally invasive procedure that uses microneedles to penetrate the skin, creating controlled micro injuries and delivering the thermal effects of RF energy. 

RF is an electric current.  When RF is transmitted to skin tissue, the molecules in the skin create friction, generating heat which causes structural changes that stimulate wound healing and the production of new collagen.

Unlike lasers RF is not affected by absorption coefficients of the chromophores, such as melanin.  For this reason, all skin types including dark skin tones can be effectively and safely treated.

Our RF Microneedling treatment is customised to suit each patient’s skin type, skin condition and concerns.

A series of 3 treatments at 4–6-week intervals are recommended.  However, this may vary depending on treatment intensity and outcome. 

Treatment effects usually begin to appear within 1-2 weeks of treatment and will continue to improve over the coming weeks.

Post treatment you will have sunburn-like redness and some swelling.  Waffle-like marks and a burning or tingling sensation are also normal immediately after treatment.  These symptoms generally resolve within 4-6 hours.  The severity and duration of the symptoms will vary depending on the treatment intensity and skin condition. It will take few days to appreciate the full results of the treatment.
